Article submission and different countries…
I was recently asked about article submission and whether it is worth it if you are in another country. My answer is below:
I am sure the directories listed are mainly US based. I’d say roughly 90% or more.
It is a good consideration as the internet is worldwide. Different domains may differentiate different countries but in the eyes of the search engines it does not matter.
The key as I am sure you know is quality backlinks preferably with high PR value. There is a formula for calculating PR value and if I am not mistaken it goes like this:
8 PR 0’s = 1 PR 1
8 PR 1’s = 1 PR 2
8 PR 2’s = 1 PR 3
and so on.
For example, let’s say you have 48 PR 0’s linking to your page. That would be the equivalent of having 6 PR 1’s linking to that page (48 PR 0’s/8 PR 0’s per PR 1= 6 PR 1’s). You would need 64 PR 0’s to equal just 1 PR 2 linking to your page ( 64 PR 0’s/8 PR 0’s per PR 1 = 8 PR 1’s or 1 PR 2.
I hope I didn’t confuse you there ;). It can get pretty technical.
Listen, if you don’t have something to check how many links you have to your site you can find out with this free tool below:

Also, in my opinion it doesn’t matter how many article directories you submit to, it’s the quality of the directory that matters. Here is a list of some of the best:
Article City, Search Warp, Article Dashboard, Isnare, Go Articles, Buzzle, Ezine Articles, Amazines, Technoratti, Digg
If you haven’t downloaded my article directory list with PR values included you can do so at my blog below.

I hope I answered your question (name withheld).
